The Beauty of Purpose

I believe that everything has a purpose. I want to see this world through that belief and choose to trust that everything truly does have a meaning. To me, it’s a conscious choice one can make. I choose to look at the world and experience this life through the lens of purpose. I believe that everything happens for a reason and that we also have our freewill.

So why believe this way? For me personally, believing in purpose brings comfort and faith in the good that lies ahead. I don’t want to harden myself in this human experience, which can at times be very harsh. I want to see the good in things — I choose to see it. Even in the most unpleasant situations, there is always something good hidden beneath. This is something that life has taught me.

The purpose behind things, events, or lessons often only becomes clear with time. Sometimes, of course, it can be seen right away. Seeing and understanding purpose brings peace — no matter when that understanding comes. It brings peace in knowing that even when something feels heartbreaking, there is a greater meaning behind it and something better ahead.

I see that we humans have come to this Earth above all to learn. We are here to live and to grow through our experiences and learnings. We are here to evolve through these lessons. Very often, the greatest lessons in life come through hardships. There is always something to learn from them — perhaps that is the deepest purpose of difficulties themselves.

My faith has shaken in the midst of life’s storms, but I’ve always managed to hold onto it. I feel that my faith has been tested many times, almost as if life has been checking on it. Yet time and again, life has shown me that I can make it through anything. I believe that as long as you act according to your own values, something better suited for you will always be ahead.

Who then guides all of this, if everything that happens has a purpose? That is a question greater than life itself. Some people spend their whole lives searching for the answer. At this stage of my life, I’ve settled into the understanding that it’s enough for me to know that higher forces exist. I believe in the Universe, I believe in God, I believe in angels and various spiritual guides. I believe that nature, the waters, and the winds teach us. I believe that all of this is intertwined and, in the end, all is one and the same. That is enough for me.

Now I find myself again in the midst of a major life change. I’m soon moving from Bali, back to Finland. Many things are coming to an end, while many others are beginning. In these great turning points of life, it’s especially important to trust that everything will unfold for the best — and that even this change has a greater purpose. I had thought I would live on this island longer than a year and a half, but life decided to throw a few curveballs my way. With gratitude, I receive it all and begin again — building something new, something that feels even closer to my true self.

I love the saying, “Rejection is redirection.” I feel that deeply in my current situation. Things didn’t go as I had planned, and that happened for the right reasons. It’s a redirection — toward where I’m truly meant to be. A redirection toward the people I’m truly meant to walk alongside. Even in this situation, above all, I choose to believe that everything has a purpose. <3
